Why Charlottesville looks to REMAX year after year?

NOTICE: I joined RE/MAX in 2008 and it was a great decision!

RE/MAX Assured Properties is independently owned and part of the RE/MAX franchise. They are highly respected and some of the finest agents in our area. This is one of the main reasons I joined RE/MAX, but there are others.

RE/MAX is a company that is recognized worldwide and the Real Estate business is becoming a global business. This is a good move if you expect business from other areas of the country and the world.

RE/MAX offers it's agents incredible training and opportunities. Any agent (worth their weight in salt) keeps up with education and trends. This is critical for any agent working with buyers and/or sellers.

I am glad to be associated with such a fine group of agents and I look forward to the many challenges ahead in the new year!

Christine Lisle of our office was just names Sales Person of the Year at CAAR. Last year it was Marjorie Adams from our office.

In 2009 we out sold all offices in our area with number of transactions. It is quite an office!

Who is really selling Charlottesville Real Estate? (ok, I am going to brag a little)

Many of my readers know that our Office (Re/Max Assured Properties) is the top selling office in the Charlottesville Area for number of transactions.

Yesterday we had our quarterly office meeting and I was pleased to be awarded the

"Top Producing Individual for 2009"

for our office.

If you read my blog you know that I moved over to Re/Max just two years ago. We have a group of outstanding agents and it is my pleasure to be associated with them!

2010 is starting out with a bang!

As I start my 3rd year at REMAX Assured Properties I am excited to say we are the top selling office in our area! My Associate Peg Gilliland and I are closing an average of over a home a week! Not bad for a down market.

Trends in Charlottesville Real Estate (closing a home a week)

Our local market seems to have slowed but it is still active.... what do I mean? In looking at year end numbers our Charlottesville REMAX office is out selling every other office in the area.

There is still a lot of activity (both buyers and sellers) we just have more inventory than usual and the deals are more challenging. As my clients know I co-list homes with Peg Gilliland. When I look at our sales, we are closing over a home a week. Not bad for a SLOW market.

So why is my Agent so Vague???

It seems like my agent is dancing around my questions. Why is this?

Schools

Schools – It may sound vague when an agent talks about schools but Buyer and Listing

agents can not “steer” a client to or from a school.

Crime – I hear it all the time, how is the crime in this area. Again an agent will be vague and refer you to a website or the police dept.

Race and Religion - Who lives in this neighborhood. This is a biggie. Think about this for a minute, agents can not give you a cross reference of nationalities or religion in an area. We can not even tell you if there are a lot of kids in a neighborhood. We will say something like “well, when we drive around, let’s see if there are play-sets and bicycles”.

Sex-offenders/Megan’s Law – We actually write this one into our contracts, giving you a place to look for this information, but as an agent, we can not do this for you.
